inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police's Directorate of Criminal Acts against Women and Children Services (PPA) and Human Trafficking Crimes (PPO) has uncovered a case of alleged sexual violence perpetrated by an online taxi driver against his passenger.
"We also urge our media partners to work together to protect the victim's privacy. In cases of sexual violence, there is a private space that must be protected to prevent further trauma for both the victim and their family," said the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, on Monday (4/6/2026).
The Director of PPA and PPO of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Rita Wulandari Wibowo, added that the incident occurred on Saturday (4/14/2026) at around 4:30 p.m. in the Istana Harmoni Apartment area, Central Jakarta. The victim, identified as SKD (20), was sexually assaulted by suspect WAH (39) while using an online transportation service.
According to Rita, the perpetrator allegedly engaged in inappropriate conversation, grabbed and squeezed the victim's thighs. He then jumped into the back seat and attempted to pin the victim down, using force. The victim, she said, resisted and recorded the incident.
"This incident demonstrates an escalation from verbal harassment to physical violence. In handling this matter, we are not only focusing on law enforcement, but also ensuring the victim receives protection, assistance, and comprehensive recovery," explained Rita.
During the investigation, investigators confiscated evidence including a cell phone, a silver Honda Brio, vehicle documents, the victim's and perpetrator's clothing, contraceptives, aphrodisiacs, and other items suspected of being related to drug abuse. The results of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Health Service examination showed the suspect tested positive for drug use.
For his actions, the perpetrator is suspected of violating Article 414 paragraph (1) letter b and paragraph (2) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 9 years and a maximum fine of IDR 50 million, as well as the provisions of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes (TPKS). The Jakarta Metropolitan Police urge the public to be vigilant when using public transportation and to immediately report any crime through 110.
