Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A tragic fire swept through five shop-houses, locally known as ruko, in Tualang Baro Village, Manyak Payed District, Aceh Tamiang, early Sunday morning (25/5/2025), killing six people, including a toddler and an infant.

The fire broke out around 5:15 am and was fully extinguished two hours later after five fire trucks were deployed. The victims included Ahyar (40) and his wife Khadijah (36), along with four children: Fita Zulkhaira (10), Muizul Fattan (8), Nabila (3), and Mustaqim (18 months).

Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Iman Suhery said that the blaze is believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. The flames rapidly engulfed nearby shops, including grocery stores and gas cylinder outlets, causing extensive damage, as reported by antaranews.com. 

Total losses are estimated at Rp 850 million.

All victims have been evacuated to Langsa Regional Hospital. Local authorities and community leaders, including the Aceh Tamiang regency secretary, have visited the families to offer condolences and aid. Police are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
