inp.polri.go.id - East Java. The Ponorogo Sub-regional Police Traffic Unit used smart glasses to support traffic law enforcement in the area on Monday (5/18/2026).

The smart glasses are used as part of the development of the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system to boost the effectiveness of traffic violation monitoring.

The use of this device is also aimed at reducing the high number of violations involving motorcyclists who do not wear helmets.

Ponorogo Sub-regional Police Traffic Unit Head, Police Senior Inspector Dewo Wishnu Setya Kusuma, stated that the smart glasses allows officers to detect violations directly without having to manually stop vehicles on the spot.

"In enforcing the law, we are taking advantage of the efficiency of advanced technology which in this case the use of smart glasses," said Dewo on Tuesday (5/19/2026).

The smart glasses are worn directly by personnel in the field, allowing for more flexible and faster violation monitoring. 

This technology is also claimed to support the electronic enforcement system, which is now being gradually implemented at various points prone to traffic violations.

"Members wear these smart glasses while on patrol," he added.

In addition to smart glasses, they are also implementing Handheld ETLE in its electronic ticketing implementation. This mobile-based device allows personnel to record traffic violations directly from the field. With this system, officers can immediately confirm violations without having to wait for large-scale traffic operations.
