Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. Soekarno-Hatta Customs Office, in coordination with local law enforcement, has foiled multiple attempts to smuggle narcotics into Indonesia between January and February 2025.
Head of Soekarno-Hatta Customs Office, Gatot Sugeng Wibowo, emphasized on Friday (7/3/2025) their firm stance on combating drug trafficking.
Authorities conducted eight enforcement actions, leading to the arrest of 11 suspects—eight Indonesians and three foreigners from the U.S., Algeria, and France. Confiscated substances included 505.65 grams of methamphetamine, 106.56 grams of cocaine, 136.51 grams of THC, 2.4 grams of marijuana, and 3,778 grams of ketamine.
Cases involved air passengers and high-risk shipments. One significant interception on 14 February 2025 uncovered cocaine and THC concealed in a package from France to Bali. Another case on 19 January 2025 involved Thai Airways passengers smuggling drugs in vape cartridges.
Suspects will be prosecuted under the Narcotics Law, which carries potential life sentences or the death penalty.
