South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor Resigns

Inp.polri.go.id - Banjarbaru.  Governor of South Kalimantan, Sahbirin Noor announced his resignation from his second term, which was set to end in 2024. 

He bid farewell to civil servants in the provincial government on Wednesday (13/11/2024), accompanied by his wife, Raudatul Jannah, and senior advisors.

"Today, I am stepping down from my remaining term as governor," Governor Sahbirin said in his address at the Idham Chalid Building, where he reflected on his eight years of leadership, emphasizing teamwork in advancing the region.

Heacknowledged the emotional farewell, apologizing for any oversights during his tenure. 

"These eight years have been a collective effort. I am confident that the President, Prabowo Subianto, will appoint a suitable successor to maintain progress in South Kalimantan," he added, as reported by antaranews.com.

As he departed, government employees lined up to offer their goodbyes, some shedding tears while expressing their appreciation and well-wishes.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially named South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor a suspect in a bribery case involving a project tender in the region. The case is linked to alleged payments made in exchange for influencing the outcome of a public project bidding process in South Kalimantan. However, the South Jakarta District Court has annulled  his designation as a suspect.
