Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The South Kalimantan Regional Police held a troop deployment ceremony to kick off Operation Patuh Intan 2026, prioritizing preemptive and preventive measures to reduce traffic accidents caused by forest fire haze in Banjarmasin on Saturday (31/10/2026).

"We reported to the Head of Traffic Corps that for South Kalimantan, we will prioritize preemptive and preventive actions, particularly targeting road sections affected by karhutla haze," said South Kalimantan Police Head of Public Relations Senior Commander Nur Khamid, quoting South Kalimantan Police Director of Traffic Senior Superintendent Fahri Sirega.

Officers are installing safety warnings, repainting road markings, deploying rotator lights, and attaching reflectors in high-risk areas, though manual traffic citations will still apply to severe violations like illegal racing. South Kalimantan achieved Level 4 in the national Road Safety Index (RSI), ranking among the top regional police forces nationwide in overall traffic safety evaluation.
