Inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police and the Police Logistics Staff deployed firefighting drones equipped with an X-Fire chemical solution to extinguish peatland wildfires in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra, from 26 to 28 September 2026. 

The operation targeted hard-to-reach terrain in Sungai Bungin Village and areas along the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road to prevent flames from spreading.

"Ogan Komering Ilir has extensive peatlands that are highly flammable, difficult to reach, and lack water sources," said Brigadier General Hery Santoso, Head of Procurement at the Police Logistics Staff. "Aerial spraying using X-Fire is more practical, economical, and minimizes risks to field personnel."

Official tests were previously conducted in Ogan Ilir Regency before full deployment. Alongside technical operations, police urged residents to avoid clearing land by burning. South Sumatra Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu’min Wijaya emphasized that fire prevention remains a shared responsibility to protect local ecosystems and public health.
