Police Senior Superintendent Bagus Suropratomo Oktobrianto, Head of the South Sumatra Regional Police Food Task Force, stated that the inspections aimed to ensure rice availability and prevent price gouging.
"These inspections aim to dispel scarcity rumors, guarantee rice availability, and ensure compliance with government's maximum retail price (HET)," he said.
Several agent and warehouse locations were monitored, including those in Kertapati District, Srijaya Negara Street, and Pegayut District in Ogan Ilir Regency.
"From three agent locations, there are 8,750 tons of rice available, priced between Rp11,000 to Rp13,600 per kilogram. Meanwhile, Bulog Warehouse data indicates 3,396 tons available," he explained.
He further stated that with these conditions, rice availability is secure for the next three months, ensuring readiness for Ramadan and Eid ahead.
