Inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police conducted a Narcotics Directorate Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in Palembang on Thursday (1/10/2026) to advance community-based drug prevention under the "Herd Immunity Policing" framework.

Representing South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, Deputy Chief Brigadier General Rony Samtana opened the forum, which was themed around strengthening collective resilience to support national economic productivity. 

The event followed a major press briefing announcing the seizure of 35 kilograms of methamphetamine and 600 Happy Five pills.

"We take no pride in merely arresting criminals; our true pride lies in preventing crime and delivering genuine security," Chief Rony said, reading Chief Sandif's address. 

He said that the Herd Immunity Policing concept aims to transition communities from passive subjects of protection into active participants in neighborhood drug prevention systems.

The forum brought together key stakeholders, including the South Sumatra Narcotics Board (BNNP), local lawmakers, prosecutors, correctional officials, local development planning agencies, and academic representatives from Universitas Sumatera Selatan. 

South Sumatra Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Nandang Mumin Wijaya added that cross-sector collaboration remains essential to safeguarding the younger generation and realizing inclusive regional security.
