Inp.polri.go.id - Muara Enim. The South Sumatra Regional Police Wildfire Task Force intensified fire-fighting operations on an 80-hectare peatland fire in Teluk Limau Village, Muara Enim Regency, on Saturday (5/9/2026).

Led by South Sumatra Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Commander Senior Superintendent James Parlindungan Hutagaol, officers tackled underground hotspots reaching depths of up to 1.5 meters using jet pumps filled with water and police-issued Crossfire Formula concentrate.

"Crews applied a spiral wetting method from the outer perimeter inward to contain subterranean embers before moving into high-heat zones," he explained. 

Field teams categorized the affected area into yellow, orange, and red risk clusters divided into four managed sectors.

Following initial soaking, officers conducted direct ground scanning by raking peat layers and dousing remaining smoke pockets with jet shooter backpacks. 

South Sumatra Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu'min Wijaya confirmed operations will continue until all underground hotspots are eliminated.
