inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan revealed that the number of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) for the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG) in the frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged (3T) regions has increased from 2,000 to 8,617.

"Previousl for the 3T regions, there were 2,000 recorded, but then the number rose to 8,617," said Zulkifli Hasan, or Zulhas, on Thursday (6/11/2026).

He explained that this increase is also a concern for the government, as 6,138 SPPG points have already received a Decree (SK) issued by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

In addition to the rising SPPG number in the 3T regions, Zulhas also revealed an increase in MBG kitchens in agglomeration areas by 6,877.

"The initial plan was 21,000, but now there are 27,877. There is an increase of 6,877," said Zulhas.

With each SPPG kitchen receiving an incentive of IDR 6 million per day, Zulhas estimates that the monthly budget wastage for SPPG kitchen incentives reaches over IDR 1 trillion.

"There's a monthly waste of IDR 1 trillion. That means, annually, IDR 12 trillion," he said.

These various cases of budget overruns have become a problem that the government must resolve. Zulhas also stated that it will take a month to reorganize the MBG Program.

The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik S. Deyang, stated that her agency is taking several budget efficiency measures to ensure the program's implementation does not burden state finances without altering the nutritional fulfillment targets for beneficiaries.

The first step is a moratorium on the opening of new SPPG points and kitchens. Currently, there are 27,877 operational kitchen points based on virtual accounts that will be reorganized to assess the suitability of service capacity to the number of beneficiaries in each region.

BGN has also temporarily suspended registration for new kitchens while mapping needs in various regions. This restructuring is being done because kitchens are still concentrated on Java.

The next step is to refocus beneficiaries so that nutrition interventions are more directed to groups that truly need them. Evaluations will be conducted on the number of beneficiaries, currently around 63 million.
