inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman assures that the staple food stock is safe and even surplus nationally ahead of the 1447 Eid al-Fitr.
“The availability and stability of the supply stock ahead of 1447 Eid al-Fitr is safe and within our control, both nationally and regionally,” says Andi on Monday (3/2/2026).
Andi says that according to the Supply Balance and Production Projection to April 2026, the majority of strategic commodities are in surplus.
As of now, the rice stock has reached around 3.5 million tons in stock and is projected to keep increased ahead of the major harvest, along with the increasing production trend of 15 percent this year.
"If this trend persists until the end of the month, our stock is almost certain to reach 6 million tons. This has never happened before since our independence. If it remains consistent until the end of the year, the potential surplus is estimated to reach around 9 million tons," explained Andi.
He confirmed that the national stock of this commodity is in surplus and is strong in maintaining supply and price stability.
"God willing, by Eid 2026, basic needs will be secure. Rice, corn, and consumption of sugar are sufficient; the public need not worry," he emphasized.
Furthermore, several commodities have even entered the export category. Cooking oil recorded a surplus of 3.556 million tons, chicken meat a surplus of 728,000 tons, chicken eggs a surplus of 349,000 tons, and shallots a surplus of 57,000 tons.
"We have a large surplus of cooking oil, and chicken and eggs are also more than sufficient. This proves that domestic production is strong and capable of supporting national needs, even for export," he said.
Andi added that the government continues to monitor production, distribution, and boost the stock numbers across all regions, especially ahead of the momentum of increased consumption during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
"We are monitoring our farmers, we have deployed extension workers to the field. We monitor the situation in the field daily. So, we have the stocks, production is running smoothly, and we are monitoring its distribution. Our target is simple: a peaceful Eid, stable prices, and satisfied people," said Andi.
