inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police revealed the results of their investigation into a suspect in the theft of money from a grandma selling coconut rice in Bekasi, West Java. The suspect admitted to using the money for his daily needs.
"The suspect used the stolen money for his daily needs as he doesn't have a stable job," explained the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, Thursday (2/26/2026).
He stated that the targeted theft method was vulnerable groups, such as women and the elderly. The suspect considered them easy victims.
He further explained that based on the investigation and questioning by investigators, two crime scenes were discovered where the suspect committed theft. Both victims were women selling coconut rice.
"Both were in the Pondok Gede area of Bekasi City (both in 2026)," he said.
