Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. ASEAN and Japan agreed to form strategic comprehensive partnership for their beneficial concrete cooperation.
Japan is the most active ASEAN partner and also the main supporter of ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP). Japan’s two contributions could realize a concrete cooperation which beneficial for the two state’s community.
“ASEAN and Japan have agreed to form Strategic Comprehensive Partnership which is not a ceremonial or unnecessary deal,” state Jokowi during the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Wednesday (9/6/2023).
Stronger cooperation between the two will open up many infrastructure investment opportunities for Southeast Asian states, valued up to $184 billon per year.
Another cooperation opportunity that has been reaffirmed are ASEAN Infrastructure Fund and ASEAN Catalytic Green Finance Facility. The two played an integral part in supporting green infrastructure connectivity.
Jokowi believed that by there will be more and stronger cooperation with Japan as the two are not far geographically. Both ASEAN and Japan bear the responsibility to further push South Asia as a peaceful, balanced and prosperous region.
“This is our home, this is where we grow up and live,” said Jokowi.
Jokowi has led all the meetings on the second day of 43rd ASEAN Summit held in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). He has met with various delegates and head of states from various countries attending the summit.
