Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Pratikno confirmed on Thursday (26/3/2026) that the 2026 Eid homecoming season has proceeded safely, with a significant 16% decline in traffic accidents despite a record surge in traveler mobility.

"The Eid homecoming flow has been smooth and secure. While the number of travelers increased this year, accident cases actually dropped, proving that high mobility can be managed effectively through technology and cross-sector synergy," he said during an official briefing at the Jasa Marga Toll Command Center, as cited by antaranews.com

Official data revealed that peak travel occurred on 18 March 2028, or 3 days prior to Eid,,with over 270,315 vehicles exiting Jakarta, which is 4.6% increase from the previous year. 

Strategic interventions, including the use of an Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and real-time CCTV monitoring, helped reduce the number of major incidents from 31 in 2025 to 26 this year. As Indonesia enters the return flow phase, the government is urging citizens to travel ahead of the anticipated secondary peak on 28 and 29 March, 2026 highlighting available toll discounts on 26 and 27 March 2026 as an incentive to distribute traffic more evenly.
