Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police, supported by the Indonesian Military (TNI), deployed 6,088 joint personnel to secure student demonstrations across Jakarta on Friday (12/1/2026).
Security was concentrated at the House of Representatives (DPR) complex, Bundaran HI roundabout, Cikini Raya, and other key areas.
Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri instructed officers to act humanely, patiently, and responsibly.
“Students are part of our community, not adversaries. They must be served, protected, and secured properly,” he said during the briefing.
Chief Asep stressed that all actions must follow procedures, remain under one command, and avoid the use of firearms. Communication and persuasion were emphasized as the primary tools in managing crowds.
Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto reminded that public demonstrations are protected by law, and the role of security forces is to ensure safety and order without disrupting daily activities.
He also warned of potential provocateurs attempting to infiltrate the protests. Traffic adjustments were prepared situationally to minimize disruption.
