According to Kompas Research and Development department (Litbang), majority of public believe that government and Indonesian National Police (INP) able to maintain the security and politic stability during 2024 General Elections. “Most repondents (79.3%) in Kompas Litbang Survey on 2023 August states that they are satisfied with the government in maintaining politic and security situation,” states Kompas Litbang on Sunday (9/24/2023). The most significant satisfactory indicators are in building sense of respect and the guarantees for freedom of speech. Providing sense of security for the community also acquired some notable appreciation. The indicators that are appreciated becomes the key factor in democratic life, particularly in guaranteeing the freedom of speech and community safety. The two factors are the foundation in holding an election. Other aspects that support people’s belief in government is their trust on its security apparatus, INP. Public considers the capability of INP in providing public security and maintaining stability is proper. According to Kompas Litbang, 66.8% of the public considers INP is good enough. The growing number of people’s trust in INP is thanks to their effort in rebuilding and continue in improving their professionality. In providing public security, 75.3% of the public satisfied with the efforts of INP. This correlates with public confidence with INP’s neutrality in 2024 General Elections. As much as 65% respondents expressed their beliefs that INP would be professional and neutral on 2024 General Elections. (ad/my/pr/nm)
