inp.polri.go.id - Pontianak. West Kalimantan Regional Police Mobile Brigade personnel, along with officers from the Sintang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), moved quickly to extinguish a land fire in Kunyai Village, Sungai Tebelian District, Sintang.
This measure was taken to prevent the fire from spreading and impacting residential areas.
"Seven personnel from the C Pioneer Battalion of the Regional Police Mobile Brigade Corps were deployed to the fire location in Sungai Tebelian District, Sintang," said West Kalimantan Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Superintendent Bambang Suharyono, in Sintang on Wednesday (10/7/2026).
The joint team deployed an Armored Water Cannon (AWC) to spray water on the fire. This vehicle was used to expedite the extinguishing process and control the blaze.
Bambang stated that the personnel's rapid response was part of the police's efforts, along with relevant agencies, to protect the public from the threat of land fires.
"This synergy between the Mobile Brigade Corps and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that the police not only maintain public order and security, but are also always ready to be on the front lines when people need immediate assistance," he said.
According to Bambang, the deployment of personnel and special vehicles was carried out to control the fires before they spread and approached residential areas.
Officers in the field also took wind direction and terrain conditions into account when extinguishing the fires to prevent new hotspots from emerging.
Bambang urged the public to avoid activities that could potentially trigger land fires, especially in areas prone to forest and land fires.
He also asked the public to immediately report any hotspots they encounter through the police call center (110) or visit the nearest police station.
Quick reporting is crucial so officers can promptly inspect and handle the situation to prevent the fires from spreading and threatening land or residential areas.
