Inp.polri.go.id - Manado. The Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources dismissed rumors of Tagulandang Island sinking following Mount Ruang's eruption. 

Head of the Agency Muhammad Wafid made the clarification on Saturday (4/5/2024) amidst public concern sparked by eruptions on 17 and 30 April 2024.

He urged local residents to remain calm, cautioning against unfounded rumors, according to antaranews.com.

To provide reliable updates, the agency has utilized digital platforms like the MAGMA Indonesia app and the Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Agency (PVMBG) website. 

In addition, the agency has stationed its staff at observation posts in Tagulandang and Bandung.

Recent observations showed heightened Mount Ruang activity, including seismic tremors and continuous smoke emissions. 

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has  initiated evacuations for residents within a seven-kilometer radius. As of now, around 5,719 our 12,000 residents await relocation..
