Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Taiwan has officially replaced Kuwait as Indonesia’s opponent in the FIFA Match Day scheduled for 5 September 2025 at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya.
The change followed Kuwait’s abrupt withdrawal from the fixture, confirmed by the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) on Wednesday (27/8/2025).
“The FIFA Match Day between Indonesia and Kuwait was canceled due to an unexpected unilateral withdrawal by the Kuwait FA through an official letter received by PSSI on August 21,” the federation said in its statement, as quoted by antaranews.com. “As a replacement, Indonesia will face Taiwan.”
Indonesia will therefore maintain its two-match schedule during the September FIFA window, first meeting world No. 172 Taiwan, before facing Lebanon on 8 September 2025. Both games form part of the Garuda squad’s preparations for the fourth round of the 2026 Asian World Cup Qualifiers against Saudi Arabia and Iraq in October.
PSSI confirmed fans who purchased tickets for the canceled Kuwait fixture may apply for a refund, or keep them valid for the Taiwan match.
