Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The Tanjung Perak Immigration Office in Surabaya, East Java has deported a group of nine Chinese citizens involved in online fraud, recently uncovered by local police.

The suspects had rented a house in Surabaya to operate their scam targeting victims in China and entered Indonesia on visitor visas.

I Gusti Bagus M. Ibrahiem, the Head of the Tanjung Perak Immigration Office, confirmed on Thursday (24/10/2024) that legal proceedings against the group will take place in China.

"The Chinese Embassy in Indonesia has coordinated with law enforcement in China to follow up on the legal actions against these individuals as they targeted victims in their home country," he said.

Most of them had previously traveled in and out of Indonesia on visitor visas, which are suspected to have been misused for fraudulent activities.

Ibrahiem said that they are black listed to prevent future entry into Indonesia.
