Inp.polri.go.id - Ambon. Telkomsel is currently building more than 800 new 4G LTE Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) across Papua and Maluku in 2023, with the goal of bridging the gap in cellular network access within these areas. "Our focus on 4G LTE development underscores our dedication to enhancing capacity, speed, and ensuring consistent access to meet the evolving digital needs of our customers," said Agus Sugiarto, General Manager of Network Operations and Productivity for Telkomsel Regional Maluku and Papua. He highlighted a substantial surge in data traffic, recording a 20,4 percent increase Year-to-Date compared to the previous year. This surge in demand prompted an expansion and bolstering of the 4G LTE network in Papua and Maluku. Agus added that the introduction of these cutting-edge 4G LTE BTS not only aims to extend coverage but also to enhance signals, particularly for customers in residential and commercial areas. "This move propels Telkomsel's 4G LTE services to cover over 90 percent of the population across all cities and regencies in Papua and Maluku," he was quoted by antaranews.com as saying. This infrastructure expansion and network technology upgrade directly address the growing public interest in fulfilling their evolving digital lifestyle needs, including access to social media, video streaming, mobile gaming, and supporting the digital transformation of various industrial sectors. In a recent Ookla report spanning January to June 2023, Telkomsel confirmed its position as the Best Mobile Coverage provider with an impressive coverage score of 887. This recognition reaffirms Telkomsel's capability to deliver reliable connectivity, even in geographically challenging areas. Currently, Telkomsel's 4G/LTE broadband network serves approximately 98 percent of its customer base. Additionally, in the Fastest Mobile Network category, Telkomsel leads Indonesia with a Speed Score of 35,33, providing an average download speed of 26,74 Mbps and upload speed of 12,98 Mbps. Securing top positions in these vital categories for the third time, Telkomsel continues to establish itself as a connectivity trailblazer, offering the fastest and most expansive network coverage in Indonesia.
