The Densus 88 Anti-Terror Special Detachment of the Indonesian National Police (INP) has revealed that a suspected terrorist identified as DE disseminated documentary films and updates related to global terrorism through Telegram groups. "The suspect assumed the role of an administrator of multiple Telegram channels housing collections of documentary films and updates on global terrorism, which were translated into Indonesian," stated Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, the Head of the Public Affairs Bureau of the INP Public Relations Division, during a press conference on Tuesday (15/8/23). He added that DE also propagated motives for jihad through Facebook, stating, "The suspect shared digital posters on Facebook containing texts about pledging allegiance (Baiat) in both Arabic and Indonesian to the leader of the Islamic State, Abu Al Husain Al Husaini Al Quraysi." As previously reported, Densus 88 found both improvised and factory-made firearms during the arrest of DE in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday (14/8/23). (ay/hn/nm)
