Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) carried out a shooting against Security Post Raider 300/BJW in Gome District, Puncak Regency on Tuesday (8/15/23) at around 09:45 AM local time. The incident unfolded as the Commander of the Task Force Border Security Infantry Battalion Raider 300/BJW and their team were en route to Gome Post to participate in a traditional stone-burning event alongside the Gome District community. "However, the peaceful atmosphere was suddenly disrupted by shots fired by KKB, allegedly led by Numbuk Talenggen, directed towards Gome Post and the commander," stated Police Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, the Head of Public Relations of Papua Regional Police, in a written statement on Wednesday (8/16/23). Responding swiftly, the Border Security Mobile Team from Infantry Battalion Raider 300/BJW engaged the attackers in a firefight and initiated pursuit operations. Utilizing drone technology, they identified two armed individuals within the hostile group. Collaborative efforts between the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) stationed in Ilaga played a crucial role in the ongoing pursuit and crisis management. The elusive KKB faction was traced across multiple locations. "The authorities successfully secured the main base of the Numbuk Telenggen KKB group, leading to the confiscation of several significant pieces of evidence," he revealed. In the course of the pursuit, the combined forces confiscated vital pieces of evidence, including seven mobile phones of various brands, a Canon EOS 1300D camera, a small knife, a bow, and eight arrows. Additional items such as machetes, scissors, binoculars, chargers, and a memory card containing images and videos of the KKB were also confiscated. The sequence of pursuit operations endured. Amidst the exchange of gunfire, three KKB members were reportedly wounded by bullets, alongside one member of the Task Force Border Security Mobile 300/BJW, Private Rizki. However, his condition are stable and remain conscious, he clarified. While the extent of material losses is still under investigation, the authorities are resolute in their commitment to restoring a secure environment within the region. (ay/hn/nm)
