"Today is the final day for internship registration for graduates who have completed their final year of university. Of the 50,000 positions (the allocated quota), 300,000 have already registered. This is extraordinary. This is just the first batch," Yassierli said after the opening of the Job Fair titled AI Career Boost Day 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/28/2026).
According to Yassierli, the high number of applicants demonstrates the enthusiasm of university graduates for participating in the program, which is designed to improve their competencies while expanding access to the workforce and national industry.
He explained that the 50,000 participant quota represents the first phase of the 2026 National Internship Program, which will reach 150,000 participants in three phases.
The government has divided the program into three phases, each with a quota of 50,000 participants. This ensures that internship opportunities remain open for those who did not qualify in the first phase.
Yassierli urged participants who were not selected in the first phase to still participate in the second and third phases of selection, as the government is committed to optimizing the program's capacity within the established quota.
"For those who did not receive an internship opportunity in batch 1, we encourage them to participate in batches 2 and 3," he said.
He also urged prospective participants to consider internship opportunities realistically, taking into account the level of competition at each company, before deciding on a location and program placement.
According to Yassierli, information on the number of applicants at each company can serve as a reference for participants in assessing opportunities, allowing them to choose internship locations with a more balanced level of competition.
The Ministry of Manpower also encourages participants to take advantage of internship opportunities in their respective regions, as the chances of being accepted are generally greater than those of companies located in highly competitive areas.
He hopes this strategy will create an even distribution of internship participants across various regions, so that the program's benefits are not concentrated solely in Jakarta but also reach the needs of industries throughout Indonesia.
