inp.polri.go.id – Police are considered to be more advanced in their service and protection to the child. The progress of the Police in serving the children is related to how they act with the children and female victims or with the children as the perpetrators. According to Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Chairperson, Susanto, in Jakarta last Thursday, the National Police (Polri) had properly implemented the Law No. 35, Law No. 17 of 2016 and Law No. 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Justice System. Both in the context of children as victims and child as perpetrators of criminal acts. Polri continues to improve the services and protection for children, as well as for the women. Moreover, the National Police Chief (Kapolri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo is committed to improving the protection and services of children, especially the prevention of cases of sexual violence against women and children. Both the DPR and the government hope that Polri will immediately realize the establishment of the Directorate of Women and Children Services (PPA). The pressure got stronger after the ratification of the TPKS Law by the Legislative House. Another reason is that cases of harassment against women and cases of sexual violence and obscenity with child victims are considered to continue to increase. This is certainly quite worrying and needs more serious handling. Previously, the synergy between Polri and the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection had been well established. The Ministry has built an MoU with Polri which is valid for five years from 2019 to 2024. The collaboration is related to the Institutionalization of Gender Mainstreaming and the Protection of Women and Children.
