inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Densus 88 Anti-Terror Unit presumes HOK (19), the terrorist suspect arrested in Malang, was provoked by Daulah Islamiyah propaganda in social media.
“Our initial assumption is that he was provoked by Daulah Islamiyah online propaganda in internet or social media,” says INP Densus 88 Anti-Terror Unit Chief, Senior Superintendent Aswin Siregar on Sunday (8/4/2024).
Aswin says that the teenagers often searched for information in social media about Daulah Islamiyah, which provoked him. He then began to craft his own bomb, and even intended to commit suicide bombing.
“He accessed sites that contained Daulah Islamiyah propaganda content other than contents from social media. This sparks his intention to commit the suicide bombing,” explains Aswin.
Aswin adds that from this arrest, police have seized evidence of bomb-making chemicals, including triacetone triperoxide, aka TATP, which is very dangerous and has high explosive power.
