The 1,621 joint personnel consisted of Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police, Indonesian Military Force (TNI), and Jakarta Regional Government officials ready to secure the protest in front of DPR/MPR RI Building. “Personnel will be stationed in several location around the area for todays protest. We have prepared several personnel for security measures and prevent the masses to enter the building complex,” said the Vice Head of Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police, Superintendent Anton Elfrino Trisanto on Wednesday (3/13/2024). Furthermore, Anton also reveals that the security forces will later blockade the road and divert the traffic around DPR/MPR building if the situation escalates. If the number of masses grow, security personnel will close the road access near Pulau Dua restaurant. “We will see the scale of the mass. If the mass in front of the building gate grows and the situation escalates, we will divert the traffic ahead the DPR/MPR Building and close the road access to Pulau Dua. Vehicles going towards DPR/MPR RI building from the toll road will also be diverted to Slipi,” explained Anton. Anton advised his personnel involved in the security operations to act persuasively, not easily provoked, and prioritize negotiations and service over violence. (ad/fa/pr/nm)
