Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Three prosecutors from the Banten Prosecutor's Office appeared at the Serang Corruption Court on Tuesday (14/4/2026)  for their primary hearing regarding the alleged 2-billion-rupiah extortion of two South Korean citizens.

"The defendants threatened that the victims would receive maximum sentences if they failed to pay for their legal settlements," said Public Prosecutor Yopi Suhanda while reading the indictment before the panel of judges, as cited by antaranews.com.

The defendants, identified as Redy Zulkarnain, Rivaldo Valini, and Herdian Malda Ksastria, allegedly exploited a cybercrime case to solicit bribes between February and November 2025. Two accomplices, a translator and a legal advisor, are also facing trial following a sting operation conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

The prosecution detailed a series of illicit payments ranging from detention suspensions to sentencing arrangements. Although nearly Rp 1 billion was reportedly returned during the investigation, the defendants face severe charges under the Anti-Corruption Law and the latest Indonesian Criminal Code.
