Three British Citizens Arrested for Cocaine Smuggling in Bali

Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. Bali Regional Police have arrested three British citizens for allegedly smuggling 994.56 grams of cocaine worth around Rp 6 billion into the island. 

The suspects, identified by their initials JC (37), LE (39), and PA (31), were arrested in a joint operation by Bali Police’s Narcotics Directorate and Ngurah Rai Customs.

Bali Police Deputy Director of Narcotics Investigation Superintendent Ponco Indriyo, said on Friday (7/2/2025) that suspects JC and LE were caught at Ngurah Rai International Airport’s international arrivals terminal on 1 February 2025, after flying from the UK via Doha, Qatar. 

Their cocaine was concealed in food packaging inside their suitcases, according to antaranews.com.

Authorities later arrested suspect PA in Tuban, Badung on 3 February 2025, following a controlled delivery operation. Police suspect that PA was responsible for distributing the drugs in Bali.

Investigations revealed this was their third smuggling attempt. The seized cocaine, valued at approximately Rp 6 billion, was intended for Bali’s drug market.

The suspects have been charged under Article 113 (2) of L aw No. 35/2009I on Narcotics  carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
