inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A riot during security for a carnival commemorating the 81st Indonesian Independence in Rowobungkul Village, Ngawen District, Blora Regency, culminated in the assault of two Ngawen Sector Police officers.

The Blora Sub-regional Police are now expanding their investigation by questioning 15 witnesses to fully uncover the sequence of events and to further investigate the roles of each party in the riot.

Head of the Blora Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Senior Inspector Zaenul Arifin, stated that the number of witnesses questioned has risen from the previous 11. The questioning is being conducted to clarify the chronology and uncover the involvement of each party in the incident.

"The questioning of 15 witnesses related to the assault case of police officers on duty in Rowobungkul Village, Ngawen District, Blora, is to further investigate the chronology of events and the roles of each party," said Zaenul in Blora, Saturday (8/29/2026).

The witnesses questioned included the victim, civil service police unit personnel present at the scene, and several residents whose statements related to the approximately 50-second video recording that was circulating.

The investigation into the case began after police named three people as suspects and detained them.

The incident occurred at the Randualas Hamlet intersection, Rowobungkul Village, Ngawen District, on Saturday (8/22/2026) at around 4:30 p.m.

According to Zaenul, the disturbance began with taunts between carnival participants, which then escalated into a fight between residents of Tembang Hamlet and Randualas Hamlet.

Joint officers at the scene attempted to break up the situation and control it. However, while attempting to stop the fight, two Ngawen Sector Police officers were instead beaten.

"The officers tried to break it up, but were pushed to the ground, hit, and injured," he said.

During the investigation, police previously detained 11 people for questioning. After reviewing witness statements and gathering evidence, investigators named three individuals as suspects.

The three suspects, identified by their initials as SJ, NR, and BD, are all residents of Blora Regency.

The police are continuing their investigation into the case, including comparing witness statements with circulating video footage to determine the sequence of events and the roles of each party.
