Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Tangerang Regent, Arief Rachadiono Wismansyah says people around Rawa Kucing landfills were evacuated due to smoke that has gone thicker. The regent states that the landfills fire in Rawa Kucing in actuality has been extinguished by officials, however there are still fire locations that potentially ignite another fire. “In the morning we have cooling down. But around 8 o’clock and 9 o’clock, strong wind blew until afternoon, causing visibility to zero due to smoke,” says Arif Wismansyah in his statement. “Around 12 o’clock and 1 o’clock, I decided to orders the public to evacuate because the smoke was really thick. We have prepared a place of rest for them,” he explains. The regent explains there are offices, sports arena (GOR), social service office, former culture and tourism service office, and the Kedaung Weta Village building which was used as a location for evacuation facilities for residents. According to the regent, the fire fighters have been deployed from Banten Province, South Tangerang City, and Jakarta. “We have also received three water tanks from Indonesian Red Cross, and there are also from local water company. We also received three fire fighter units from Jakarta and two from South Tangerang,” he said. According to National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) reports, the fire of Rawa Kucing Landfills has occurred since last Friday at 14:00. BNPB officials, Abdul Muhari states at least 10 hectares of landfills were burned. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. (ad/pt/pr/nm)
