Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps will implement a demerit point system for traffic violations in 2025.

The INP Head  of Traffic Corps Inspector General Aan Suhanan, said on Sunday (5/1/2025) that this system, called the Traffic Activity Report, tracks driver behavior based on traffic violations and accidents.

Each driver with a valid license, locally known as SIM, starts with 12 points annually. Minor violations deduct one point, moderate violations three points, and major violations five points. Fatal accidents resulting in deaths or hit-and-run cases will result in a 12-point deduction, potentially leading to permanent license revocation.

"Drivers with depleted points will face SIM suspension, and renewal will require retesting," Chief Aan, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The system will also integrate with police records or SKCK, providing details on violations and accidents. Enhanced monitoring will be enforced through electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE), ensuring accountability.

"This system aims to improve road safety and uphold legal certainty," Chief Aan added.
