Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Traffic Corps is drafting a joint decree (SKB) to regulate traffic during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays.
Traffic Police Chief, Inspector General Aan Suhanan, said that the decree, which involves the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Transportation, will provide guidelines for managing holiday traffic, including outbound, return, and tourist flows.
Key regulations will include restrictions on heavy vehicles (three axles or more) on certain toll and arterial roads.
“This measure is aimed at ensuring smoother travel during peak times,” Chief Aan explained after a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday (4/12/2024).
Additional provisions in the SKB include contraflow and one-way traffic systems, adjustments at key ferry terminals such as Merak and Ciwandan in Banten and Bakauheni in Lampung and buffer zones for temporarily holding vehicles.
The traffic regulations will also cover travel delays and optimize ferry operations at ports like Ketapang and Bulusanin East Java’s Banyuwangi, Gilimanuk in Bali and Lembar in West Nusa Tenggara.
