Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. One month into the tenure of Head of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps Inspector General Wibowo, traffic safety indicators showed progress as road fatalities dropped significantly in July 2026. 

Data from the Integrated Road Safety Management System (IRSMS) recorded a 22.92% decrease in traffic accident fatalities compared to June 2026, marking 441 fewer deaths nationwide.

The findings were released following an analysis and evaluation conducted by the Sub-Directorate of Traffic Accidents under the Law Enforcement Directorate of the Traffic Corps, directed by Law Enforcement Director Brigadier General I Made Agus Prasatya.

Traffic Accident Sub-Directorate Head Senior Superintendent Mariochristy PS Siregar noted that overall traffic safety management improved over the past month. In addition to the drop in fatalities, total recorded traffic incidents slightly decreased by 27 cases (0.17%) compared to the previous month. However, severe injuries saw an increase of 218 cases (11.05%), which Korlantas will target for further preventative measures and safety interventions.

IRSMS data for July 2026 identified the five regional police jurisdictions with the highest accident numbers, led by Central Java Police (3,300 cases), East Java Police (3,017 cases), Metro Jaya Police (1,572 cases), West Java Police (886 cases), and South Sulawesi Police (872 cases).

The Traffic Corps affirmed that it will continue conducting periodic data-driven evaluations to refine traffic enforcement, public education, and road safety management across Indonesia.
