Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued a weather forecast alerting several major cities in Indonesia to the impending rain brought about by Tropical Cyclone Seed 91W currently advancing westward from the South China Sea.
"The indirect impact of these tropical cyclone seeds for the Indonesian region is moderate to heavy intensity rain accompanied by lightning and thunder in the Aceh, Riau, and Riau Islands regions," Dendi Rona Purnama, a forecaster at BMKG, said on Monday (25/9/2023) as reported by antaranews.com
He highlighted the impact of the Cyclone on sea wave heights in specific areas, with waves measuring 1.25 to 2.5 meters in the northern Natuna Sea, Anambas, and waters north of the Natuna Islands.
"Be aware of the potential for strong winds, especially in the West Java, West Nusa Tenggara, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, and South Sulawesi areas," he said.
BMKG has issued a cautionary advisory for the Medan area, urging residents to be vigilant due to the expected thunderstorms.
