inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Public Television Broadcasting Institution (LPP TVRI) is strengthening the broadcasting infrastructure on Saonek Island, Raja Ampat Regency, Southwest Papua.
LPP TVRI President Director Iman Brotoseno said that the strengthening was carried out because his party is obliged to expand broadcasting coverage, especially in remote areas as well as priority tourist destinations such as Raja Ampat.
"The people of Southwest Papua have the right to obtain access to development information from the central and regional governments, including entertainment and news," said Iman in his statement in Jakarta, Friday.
In addition, he said that improving infrastructure in Papua needs to be done as currently the Papua region is the lowest region in Indonesia with 14 percent of the population broadcasting coverage.
"By increasing broadcasting coverage in the Papua region, it shows that the state is present in public services to the Papuan people," he said.
Imam explained that one of the strengthening was done by modernizing the TVRI transmitter and studio at the TVRI Transmission Station on Saonek Island.
The modernization was done through the digitalization broadcasting system (DBS) program of the Ministry of Communication and Digital with a loan financing scheme from the French Government.
However, he continued, the transmission station could not yet operate because it had just completed the renovation of facilities and infrastructure, and was waiting for the installation of transmitter equipment from the Ministry of Communication and Digital DBS program.
