Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Two Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officers from Battalion C Nabire were killed on Wednesday (13/8/2025)) after being assaulted and shot by an armed criminal group (KKB) while guarding construction of the Trans Papua road section between Nabire and Paniai.
“The two Brimob personnel were assaulted and shot by the KKB while securing the project at Kilometer 126,” Nabire Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Samuel Tatiratu told antaranws.com.
The victims were identified as Brigadier Arif Maulana and Second Brigadier Nelson C. Runaki.
According to witnesses from contractor PT AMP Nabire, the attack began when the KKB assaulted Brigadier Arif with a sharp weapon before shooting Second Brigadier Nelson. The assailants then fled with two AK-47 rifles and ammunition.
Five workers survived after fleeing the scene. Police have secured the area and are pursuing the perpetrators.
