Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. Surabaya City Sub-regional Police in East Java have charged two women, identified as P alias I and S alias L, in connection with a suspected human trafficking operation involving the illegal recruitment of workers bound for Malaysia.
“We’ve detained two female suspects believed to be preparing victims for overseas deployment, specifically to Malaysia,” said Assistant Senior Inspector Rina Shanty Dewi Nainggolan, the Surabaya Police Head of Public Relations, on Monday (2/6/2025).
The arrests followed a raid on Sunday at a house on Jalan Kedung Anyar, Sawahan District. The residence was suspected of being used to detain prospective migrant workers. A third person, identified as IZ, was questioned but later released after being found to be the house caretaker.
The case came to light after one of the victims contacted a local radio station, which alerted the police through the emergency Command Center 112. At the scene, police rescued two women and two men who had reportedly been held for over two days.
