inp.polri.go.id - Ukraine invites the President of Indonesia, Ir. H. Joko Widodo, to attend the International Crimea Platform high-level conference which will take place on August 23.
"This summit will take place on August 23. And we have extended an official invitation to His Excellency the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo," said Ukrainian Ambassador to Indonesia Vasyl Hamianin during a virtual press conference, Tuesday (2/8).
He then said, "So far [the format of the event] is online, which is convenient. So there is no need to travel, or implementing Covid-19 restrictions."
According to Vasyl, the event is also an expression of solidarity with Ukraine's sovereignty. He said many world leaders would attend the event. "This year Ukraine and its people need the support and solidarity of the international community even more," Vasyl said.
Previously, the International Crimea Platform took place on August 23, 2021. The purpose of the platform is to enhance the international response to the occupation of Crimea, prevent human rights violations, protect victims from the occupation, and ensure the return of Crimea to Ukraine.
Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula in 2014. Moscow then claimed Crimea as part of its territory. But the United Nations (UN) and the international community rejected it. Now, Ukraine is under Russian onslaught after President Vladimir Putin launched an invasion on February 24.
The war threatens the independence, sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine. In addition, it also threatens peace, stability, and development of the world as a whole
