inp.polri.go.id - The United States said Iran plans to supply hundreds of drones with combat capabilities to help Russia in their war in Ukraine.
Citing AFP, the White House's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, said that this information is based on information from his party.
"The Iranian government plans to assist Russia with hundreds of UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), including armed UAVs in the near future," Sullivan said.
Sullivan did not specify the details of that information. He only said that Iran would provide training for the Russian army to be able to operate it.
Previously Iranian drones have also been used to thwarted the Houthi rebels in Yemen in attacking Saudi Arabia some time ago.
"From the information that we have obtained, Iran is preparing to train Russian troops to use UAVs with an initial training session scheduled for early July," Sullivan said.
Drones have played an important role in the war between Ukraine and Russia. Drones used ranged from firing long-range missiles, dropping small bombs, to reconnaissance troops.
So far, Ukrainian forces have also been able to optimize the Turkish-made Bayraktar combat UAV as well as other US and allied supplies.
Sullivan said the US would continue to support Ukraine in defending its sovereignty against Russian attacks.
"We will continue to do our part to help create an effective defense for Ukraine and help Ukraine demonstrate that Russia's efforts will be in vein," Sullivan said.
So far there has been no statement from the Iranian government regarding the US accusations.
