inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka emphasized the importance of ethics and strengthening critical thinking in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) during a visit to Rancaekek, Bandung Regency, West Java.

He stated that AI plays a crucial role in supporting the teaching and learning process.

"The use of AI is crucial for daily life, especially to support teachers and educators, and to facilitate student activities. But on the other hand, we must also understand that AI has rules and ethics," explained the Vice President on Wednesday (3/4/2026).

He emphasized that the use of AI should not make students completely dependent on technology, but that enhancing critical thinking skills should remain a key foundation in the educational process.

"AI is acceptable to use, but don't become dependent. Critical thinking should not be lost. Homework should not rely solely on AI; students must still find and understand the answers themselves," said the Vice President Gibran.

He also touched on the potential for misuse of technology, such as image and sound manipulation, which is often exploited for fraud. The Vice President stated that digital literacy and an understanding of ethics are crucial for students to be able to use AI responsibly.

"When we talk about AI and industrialization, there are definitely pros and cons. The challenge is finding a middle ground. AI is working, education is improving, but the environment must also be considered," said Vice President Gibran.

He also encouraged teachers to continuously improve their capacity so they can guide students in using technology appropriately.
