inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Police have again named Hafiz Mahendra (25) who is a suspect for reckless driving in a Toyota Calya. After being charged with a traffic violation, he is now facing criminal charges for allegedly possessing a sharp weapon found in his car.
"Regarding the Calya car driver that has gone viral and garnered widespread attention in recent days, the driver has been named a suspect for possession of a sharp weapon. The driver's license plate number, which was found to be incomplete and false, is also listed as a form of data falsification," explained the Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, on Friday (2/27/2026).
He stated that the case is being handled by the Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metropolitan Police.
The suspect is charged under Article 30 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the crime of possession of sharp/dangerous weapons, in conjunction with Article 391 Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code concerning the use of forged documents, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
"The perpetrator is currently being processed by the Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police. He has been detained by the police," he explained.
He further stated that the female passenger in the car remains a witness. However, her statement has been taken for investigative purposes.
