Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has issued a Circular, mandating that village head elections across the province be conducted digitally through an e-voting system.
The circular addressed to regents and the Mayor of Banjar, details preparation, implementation, and evaluation steps for digital village head elections, including voter data updates, public outreach, as well as training and simulations.
“This is relatively new for West Java, even for Indonesia. Everything must be prepared properly and accurately,” said Governor Dedi on Monday (22/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He stressed that beyond internet infrastructure, improving digital literacy in rural communities is essential for the success of electronic Pilkades.
The circular also highlights issues such as village head terms ending in 2026 and the regulation of uncontested elections, which will require further guidance from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Local administrations must report election results to the governor through the Provincial Office of Village Community Empowerment.
Governor Dedi confirmed that the circular will be forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Villages and Disadvantaged Regions, as well as provincial and regency legislatures.
