Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The West Java Regional Police have uncovered a fraudulent rice production and distribution scheme that violated national quality standards stated on product labels.
“Investigations revealed four producers and 12 rice brands committing violations, from selling medium-quality rice in premium packaging, to repackaging and mislabeling,” said West Java Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Hendra Rochmawan on Friday (8/8/2025).
Police named six suspects from four ongoing cases. The illegal operations, spanning Majalengka, Cianjur, Bandung, and Bogor, have run for up to four years, producing hundreds of tons and generating billions of rupiah in revenue.
The police are working with the Industry and Trade Office and the Food and Livestock Resilience Office to withdraw all 12 brands from circulation under SNI 6128:2020 premium rice standards, aiming to safeguard consumers and stabilize the rice market.
