Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. West Java Regional Police are working to repatriate Reni Rahmawati, a resident of Sukabumi, who is believed to be a victim of human trafficking in Guangzhou, China.

Authorities say the case involves sexual exploitation and forced marriage under an international trafficking syndicate.

“We are taking concrete steps to help Reni return safely and to uncover the trafficking network behind this crime,” said West Java Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Hendra Rochmawan on Wednesday (24/9/2025).

Police investigations revealed Reni was lured in April 2025 by two men via social media, who promised lucrative jobs in China. Instead, she was held in a safehouse, forced into a marriage with a foreign man through a video call, and sent to China where she has remained.

West Java Police are coordinating with Indonesia’s ministries and international agencies to protect the victim and pursue suspects both in Indonesia and abroad. Authorities vowed full legal action against all perpetrators.
