inp.polri.go.id - Badung. The 2026 International Association of Women Police (IAWP) Conference provided a platform for Indonesian policewomen to share their experiences in various regions, including West Papua, which has its own unique geographical, social, and cultural characteristics.

West Papua Vice Regional Police Chief, Brigadier General Sulastiana, stated that the unique characteristics of West Papua provide valuable experience for policewomen to continuously improve their skills, build rapport with the community, and provide police services tailored to the region's conditions.

"Papua has unique geographical characteristics that provide unique experiences for police in general, not just policewomen. Therefore, a unique approach is needed to address any issues that arise in the region," said Sulastiana.

According to her, West Papua's social and cultural diversity also provides a learning opportunity for policewomen to develop their competencies and play strategic roles within the police force.

"Competence is a crucial priority. Competence is certainly related to skills and knowledge," she said.

She added that leadership is not only about being at the forefront, but also about how a leader can inspire others to continue learning and developing.

"Leadership isn't just about being on the front foot, but also about how we can inspire others to dream, learn more, and then act and do more," he concluded.
