The West Papua Regional Police Inspector General Jhonny Edison Isir directly monitors the security situation during the election vote recapitulation process in several districts around West Papua and Southwest Papua. “The police chief assures that the plenary session on district level have been going smoothly and conducive,” said the West Papua PR Chief, Senior Superintendent Ongky Isgunawan in Manokwari on Monday (2/19/2024). Ongky explains that the monitoring began from Sorong Raya region post-voting day on February 14th, 2024, and continued to Manokwari Raya. On his visit, Jhonny directly saw the security operation applied by personnel in ensuring the election at 13 regencies/cities across West Papua and Southwest Papua goes smoothly. According to Ongky, the police chief appreciates the awareness and role of the community in maintaining conducive security situation before and after the election. Police will continue to safeguard the election process, including the vote recapitulation process, so that everything will go smoothly. “We hope all societal elements could maintain regional conduciveness until the election process is completely over,” said Ongky.
