Inp.polri.go.id - Padang. West Sumatra Regional Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Search and Rescue (SAR) officers conducted rapid evacuation operations in Padang on Monday (3/8/2026) following heavy rainfall that submerged multiple residential areas across the city.
"Our main focus right now is saving lives," Indonesian National Police (INP) Public Relations Division Head of Public Information Bureau Head Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko said. "The INP officers alongside joint teams continue to evacuate affected residents while data collection on victims and displaced families is conducted in parallel."
Operating under the 2026 Aman Nusa II Contingency Plan, 71 officers split into five dedicated search-and-rescue teams to assist stranded residents.
The deployed teams operated across key affected locations, including Kuranji, Air Pacah, Tunggul Hitam, and the Villa Bukit Gading III Housing Complex in Sungai Sapih. Equipped with rubber boats, outboard motors, life jackets, and emergency power generators, personnel navigated floodwaters to rescue trapped community members.
Authorities are collaborating with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the military, and local administration units to streamline rescue operations, manage temporary shelters, and deliver immediate relief supplies.
