Inp.polri.go.id - Padang. West Sumatra Regional Police Chief Inspector General Suharyono led a roll call for 5,000 personnel tasked with securing Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 during Operation Lilin 2024. 

The force comprises police, the military (TNI), and other agencies.

“Personnel will be stationed from 21 December 2024 to 2 January 2024,” Chief Suharyono ssaid after the event in Padang on Friday (20/12/2024). 

He also announced the establishment of 300 security, service, and integrated posts across the province to assist the public.

“People needing help can visit these posts, and we’ll address their concerns accordingly,” he added, as reported by antaranews.com.

While the region remains peaceful, Chief Suharyono emphasized vigilance, particularly regarding potential natural disasters due to year-end rainfall.

He encouraged the public to maintain harmony and avoid disruptive behaviors, highlighting the importance of security amid school holidays and pending local election results.
